FROM  ONE  ‘M’  TO  ANOTHER…
A Legacy of Purposeful Breeding

Greenfields Charbray Stud is rooted in a rich history of innovation, resilience, and a deep respect for quality cattle. It all began in March 1968, when Hec Maynard, his wife Ruth, and their family moved to Greenfields in Jambin, Queensland.

Originally continuing with his Brahman herd, Hec was always one to seek improvement. In 1969, when the ban on imported Charolais semen was lifted, he began artificially inseminating Brahmans with Charolais genetics. The resulting cross ‘the Charbray’ impressed him so much that he dedicated the following years to developing an exceptional line. His vision laid the foundation for what Greenfields is today.

At the first sponsored Charbray Sale in 1978, Greenfields offered eight bulls and we’ve proudly supported the sale every year since.

Today, Hec’s legacy lives on through his daughter Anne and son-in-law Les Marshall, who continue breeding under the trusted M brand, first registered in 1953 and officially transferred to RF & RM in 1985. Now known as LR & AM Marshall, we carry forward Hec’s philosophy: produce cattle that are adaptable, fertile, and deliver true market value.
